Gerald's operation day. Mam and I kept busy. M took me to see Gerald who was like more or less what I imagined. He was tired and in pain

At last did some cleaning. We now have a decent bathroom and are clean to the bottom of the stairs.

Went to town and got myself some sandals. Got Jane a PVC mac from Shirleys.

It was Bethune Sports day and we quite enjoyed it. Jane didn't do too bad. I was helping with the refreshments. Mam went.

It was the final of the World Cup - Italy and Germany. Italy won.

A lovely day. We went to Alton Towers with the Guides & Brownies and it was very hot. I enjoyed it more than last year

We took Jane to swimming and then picked Mam up as we were going to Joan Cash's party. It was very nice indeed with a lovely supper.

Jane went to Suzanne Foster's to make jam. She came in with paint on her shirt and skirt.

At night Gerald and I went on a Treasure Hunt with John and Lynda and we enjoyed it. We got lost once or twice

A busy morning doing jobs. Made some buns.

A nice wash day. But the plug got too hot and so I had to abandon the job.

We had a lay in until 9-30. Lazybones. Gerald cut the grass and I cut some of the roses and peonies down.

We went to shop and then to the Garth Garden Party. Gerald wasn't helping this year. I was driving myself mad with the jigsaw.

I did not do very much at all. I was reading while Gerald watched England v West Germany in the World Cup.

Hospital day. Early start. I was first on the list. Nothing at all to worry about. The doctors and nurses were very kind and informative.

After lunch called at Gilberdyke Strawberry fields and picked over 4lbs of gorgeous fruit.

I walked to Louie's in the pouring rain for an M.U. Committee meeting. Then went to Trekkers. Not too bad really.

After lunch we took Jane to the town to do her Grade 1 music theory exam. Gerald and I went down to the market.

Went to Mams for coffee. After lunch I made some cakes and then went to shop. We took Jane swimming and it was very cold again.

I went to choir on my bike, it seems silly not to do so on a nice night. We were doing a hard song again and it was hard work.

Jane and I went to the dentists at 9am on our bikes. She was at school by 9.45.

I did the ironing in the afternoon and Mam came having lost her key! Jane went to Guides and I was doing some more of my bedspread.

Later took Jane to the T.S.B. to get some of her money out as there was no swimming.

I really had to do some dusting. I even vacuumed the suite. It took me all the morning but I was satisfied when I had finished.

Walked from Clough Road to Boulevard. What a fool I am. In the afternoon I washed the windows outside and back way inside.

We washed Jane's hair and Gerald cut her fringe. She was much better. We had a nice tea and then watched television.

Gerald was sawing wood. I made some buns. I was embroidering while Gerald was watching the Cup Final. It wasn't very exciting.

Lynda and I did our shopping and also Mam's as she was staying with Jane. I left my meat at the shop! Gerald called to pick it up.

We had a quiet afternoon embroidering and we both enjoyed it. I had to miss the M.U. Festival Service but it couldn't be helped.

Jane was in bed until later on in the afternoon. Her temperature was still a bit high so we went to the Doctors.

Jane came in from school quite upset about the teacher doing the mime. It turned out she was feverish so went to bed instead of Guides.

Gerald got my sunblind up and it appears to be all right. After lunch I did some weeding and Gerald cut the grass.

Picked Freda and Eric up and we all went to Withernsea. It was very misty but we enjoyed the change.

Joan and I went to get the jumble sorted. Quite a lot there before us. We went to the sale at night and we made £32+. Not bad.

After lunch, rather hurried, we went to church for the Mayday Gala. The Maypole dance went well, despite a gale blowing.

We had a run to Paull and a lovely walk along the bank. It was a beautiful evening and there were quite a few boats moving in the River.
